The doors to Founders Museum near Thunder Bay are closed, and all five board members have resigned — but supporters of the Highway 61 facility still hope it will re-open next year.
Lucy Kloosterhuis and the four other newly elected directors stepped down last week for fear of financial and legal liability. She said there are currently "quite a few unknowns" about the Museum's financial situation.
“The membership as a whole, and I'm sure the past board, wants to see the Founders Museum open and continue forward,” Kloosterhuis said.
“And that's what we're working toward. But we don't want any specific people becoming personally financially liable.”
The membership has decided to seek legal advice, and to meet again next month to consider next steps.
“There were too many questions in regards to what had happened in the last couple years,” Kloosterhuis told the CBC in an interview.
