Thunder Bay business trendsetters were honoured Thursday at the RBC Innovation awards.

KBM Resources Group received the award for Innovative Company of the Year. Stephane Audet, who accepted the award on behalf of the firm, said the company was honoured to be recognized by its peers in the city.

"It feels great," he said. "We have been innovators in the northwest and through Canada for nearly 40 years so it is really great to get this award."

One of KBM's practical innovations is an environmentally friendly emulsion used for sealing roads and trails, including those at Thunder Bay's waterfront.

Other winners during the annual awards presentation included Jon Wynn for Advisor of the Year, Dr. Mat Leitch as Hero of the Year and Tyler Bragnalo of Kam Valley Industries for Project of the Year.
