Police continue to monitor the safety of students at two Thunder Bay-area schools because of what Lakehead school board officials are calling "a family matter.”
No children were outside during lunch hour at CD Howe Public School on Wednesday, as the school was secured for the third straight day. (Nicole Ireland/CBC)For the third straight day, CD Howe and Kakabeka Falls elementary schools were placed in a “Hold and Secure” status on Wednesday. Director of Education Catherine Siemieniuk said it was a precaution taken because of information received from police.
“It's a family matter that impacts both of those schools,” Siemieniuk said.
“Hold and Secure is initiated usually when there's a threat that's prominent, and as I say, this is a precautionary matter and … students remain in the building.”
