Thunder Bay police want the public's help finding the driver involved in a hit-and-run that caused extensive damage to a parked car.
Shortly after midnight Thursday, someone driving a white minivan lost control and struck a car on University Drive, near Inglewood Crescent, police reported. The driver then fled the scene.
The owner of the damaged vehicle heard the crash and looked out his window to see the minivan back up and speed away.
Traffic sergeant Glenn Porter said police hope someone can help them track down the driver.
"The parked car was rather extensively damaged, probably in the vicinity of $8,000. So we're kind of expecting the white minivan is going to have at least ... visible damage."
Porter said anyone who may know who owns that vehicle is asked to contact the police traffic unit at 684-1200 or Crimestoppers at 623-8477.
"Under the law, drivers are obliged to remain at the scene of this kind of accident and to report immediately to police,” Porter said.
