A 25-year-old man is dead and another is in critical condition after an incident Saturday night, making this Thunder Bay's sixth homicide of 2012.

Thunder Bay Police continue to investigate the homicide after a resident on Villa Street found the two men unconscious in the house upon arriving home.

Alcohol appears to have played a factor and it's unknown why the two men were at the north-end home, police said.

"The house, how it's laid out and the crime scene itself is very involved and a lot of work has to be done by the forensic investigations," said detective Don Lewis.

Joyce Waswa lives across the street from the house where the two men were found. She is parenting five children at her house and said she's concerned about the violence in her neighbourhood.

"It's scary for one thing. When you have children and you're scared of what might happen and especially in any neighbourhood I guess you're not safe anywhere," said Waswa.

Even though she just moved in three weeks ago, she said the recent homicide doesn't make her want to move.

"I don't want fear to be my reaction to something like this," said Waswa. "I'm not looking to go anywhere at all."

Police said both men had cuts on their bodies, but officials haven't identified a weapon.

The 23-year-old male found in the residence had serious life threatening injuries, according to police.

More weekend charges

In a separate incident over the weekend, Thunder Bay Police have charged a woman with aggravated assault after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend.

The incident happened on Brant Street and the man was transported to hospital in critical condition.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 2.
