Charges against former Sandy Lake First Nation chief Rusty Fiddler stayed

Criminal charges laid last year against a former chief of Sandy Lake First Nation will not proceed further in court.

Criminal charges laid last year against a former chief of Sandy Lake First Nation will not proceed further in court.

Rusty Fiddler was arrested and charged by Nishnawbe Aski police in 2017 with sexual assault and sexual interference.

At a court appearance on Mar. 5, those charges were stayed at the request of the Crown, according to Ontario's Ministry of the Attorney General.
