Remains found near hospital identified as missing woman
Further testing still needs to be done to confirm cause of death
A coroner's examination has determined that human remains found near the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre last month are those of Pauline Kireto.
Thunder Bay police made the announcement Thursday afternoon. Preliminary tests have not determined the cause of death, they said. More tests are being conducted, but the results may not be available for months, according to a police news release.
Police conducted an extensive search for the 42-year-old woman around the hospital — where she had been a patient — after she disappeared last October.
Her remains were found April 27 by a civilian in a wooded area between the hospital and Riverside Cemetery.
