The OPP officer who pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death earlier this week says he is not collecting his full salary.
Sergeant Darryl Storey said he's only receiving partial payments through a disability claim. The Police Services Act requires officers to continue receiving pay while suspended on criminal charges.
In an e-mail, OPP media relations officer Shelley Garr wrote that Storey "has been suspended and is still receiving pay."
Garr wrote that Storey has been paid since his suspension in February, 2009, and that status will continue until January, 2013 when he is sentenced.
She added, "I cannot advise whether or not an officer is off on WSIB [Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario claims]."
