Thunder Bay police detectives have determined there was no foul play in the death man whose body was found in a city yard.

The body of the 34-year-old was found late Thursday afternoon.   A post mortem will be conducted Monday to confirm the cause of death, police said.   The man has been identified, and his family has been notified.

A passerby told CBC News he was walking down an alley near Leith and May Streets around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, when he saw the motionless body in a yard behind a house at 221 Leith St.

After police arrived, word travelled around the neighbourhood.

"We were just waiting for a bus," said Alex Andy. "Two people told us about it … that there's a dead person lying back there."

Andy rushed over because he was worried the victim might be a woman he knew lived in the area.
