MP Bruce Hyer heads to Ottawa for tongue surgery
Thunder Bay Superior North MP says his speech may be affected for the long term
A Thunder Bay politician is facing another health challenge.
Thunder Bay Superior North MP Bruce Hyer said he has been diagnosed with a tumour on is tongue. The tumour will be surgically removed this week in Ottawa.
Hyer said the progosis is good but the procedure will hinder his speech."I am told, though, in the short term, and possibly the longer term, that I may have some impairment to my speech," Hyer told CBC News.
The veteran MP was treated for cancer in his lymph nodes three years ago.
