Mary St. fire sends one man to Thunder Bay hospital
A man was sent to hospital after a house fire overnight in the city.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue was called to 185 Mary St. E. at about 1 a.m. Thursday.
Fire crews arrived to find the fire well underway in the home.
The single male resident was able to escape, but was taken to hospital with burns to his hand and arm as well as smoke inhalation.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire from the interior, but not before the home suffered serious damage.
Fire Rescue had 23 fire personnel, five pumper trucks, one aerial ladder and a command vehicle at the scene in response.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
