A man is dead after the loaded pulp truck he was driving left a logging road and went down an embankment Tuesday morning.

Shortly after 8 a.m., officers with the Schreiber detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, Terrace Bay Emergency Medical Services and Terrace Bay Fire Department responded to the fatal accident involving the one tractor-trailer, about 10 km north of Terrace Bay, Ont., on what's commonly called the Mill Road.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name will not be released until next of kin have been notified.

The Ministry of Labour and OPP are both investigating.

Police said the route would remain closed until the investigation at the scene was completed.
