Thunder Bay Police have identified the man whose body was found this morning in a wooded area in Intercity.

Police received a call just before 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The 65-year-old First Nations man had been found by people walking at the end of Field Street, off 11th Avenue near Memorial Avenue.

Detectives are waiting for post-mortem results to determine the cause of death but at this point are calling it suspicious.

The area where the body was found remains cordoned off as the Criminal Investigations Branch continues its investigation.

Next of kin are still being notified, and the man's name has not been released.

In the meantime police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them.
