Impaired driving charges laid after driver hits lawn
Thunder Bay police officer injured making arrest
A 25-year-old Thunder Bay woman faces impaired driving charges after an incident on Hartviksen Street early Monday.
Police say an officer tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation just before 3 a.m., when it sped away and crashed onto a nearby front lawn.
The vehicle got stuck, and police say the officer punched through the window to stop the driver from fleeing again.
In the process, the officer's arm was injured. He was taken to hospital, treated and released.
The driver of the vehicle appears in court Monday to face charges of impaired driving and flight from police.
