OPP in Fort Frances have taken down the tape they strung along the perimeter of the Northern Lights Credit Union after a threatening note was found behind the building Thursday morning.
Officers completed "processing the scene" for evidence but the credit union was to remain closed for the rest of the day, as Crime Unit members continued to work with staff of the credit union and members of the community to investigate the incident.
Police said the note, left along with a bag near the bank, gave instructions for filling the bag with money.
The note indicated that, if the instructions were not followed, there would be consequences for other businesses or schools in the Fort Frances area.
Officers were posted at the bank and, as a precaution, local schools implemented a "Hold and Secure" protocol, which means all schools operate normally, but outside doors are locked, and staff and police monitor visitors to the school more closely. Schools were expected to dismiss children Thursday aftaernoon as per normal protocol.
OPP said their canine unit is also assisting in the investigation.
