Firefighters 'knock down' cabin fire in minutes
People enjoying an early morning coffee at the Tim Hortons on Cumberland Street Thursday morning got to see Thunder Bay firefighters at work.
One of the shacks at the old Wilf's cabins was briefly engulfed in flames.
But Randy Hyvarinen, with Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue, said it didn't take long to get the fire at the small building under control.
"It was knocked down in about three or four minutes," he said.
"[Now] we're here to babysit it until a contractor comes and demolishes it."
The current owner of the cabins said the buildings were destined for demolition even before the fire.
No one was hurt and there's no word yet on the cause of the blaze.
