Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews responded to a house fire on the city's north side Monday afternoon.

The two storey home on Fitzgerald Street, between Cumberland and Court Streets, suffered significant damage.

Firefighters arrived around three o'clock to find flames coming through the roof of the residence.

Four pumper trucks and an aerial ladder unit were deployed to fight the fire.

A neighbour said the owner of the house had purchased it just last year.

No injuries were reported. The investigation continues into the cause of the fire.
