Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is blaming faulty heating equipment for a Saturday evening blaze at an Otto Street home.
Officials say flames reached more than 10 metres.
The fire destroyed several sheds, a gazebo and a boat.
It also damaged the home, but no one was injured.
The residents were not home at the time of the fire.
Fire Chief John Hay is reminding Thunder Bay home owners to have their heating appliances serviced now that fall is here.
