The man charged with assaulting another man at the McDonald's restaurant in Dryden has another court date next month.

Geraldton resident Christopher Donylyk, 21, was charged after video of an incident was posted online last March, showing  someone slapping the head of another man repeatedly with both hands.

The case received widespread publicity and Dryden police described the incident as a heinous crime.

According to the court, Donylyk has not yet entered a plea.

  • Based on information received, CBC News reported in an earlier version of this story that Donylyk received a six-month sentence. That sentence was in fact for a person in Dryden with a similar name.
