Police in Dryden say an incident on Wabigoon Lake shows the instability of ice conditions in northwestern Ontario.

A car went through the ice at the Government Street dock landing on Sunday, and the compact station wagon was left half-submerged.

Police report ice is melting rapidly and conditions vary.

They are urging parents, in particular, to caution their children against straying onto any lake at this time of year.
