City councillors in Thunder Bay approved about $2.2 million in community funding Monday night — a major portion of which will go to the Community Auditorium.
The funding, which has yet to be ratified in the upcoming budget, also includes spending at the museum, art gallery, Shelter House and the symphony.
Councillor Lynda Rydholm wanted to know why the auditorium saw a 10 per cent increase in its operations grant.
"I noticed that $685,000 was listed for the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium," she said.
"Is that the same [amount] we saw last year in the budget?"
City staff said the increase will pay for a new administrative position at the auditorium.
