Alberta man dies after crash near Thunder Bay
Police identify victim as 64-year-old Peter Wright of Fort Saskatchewan
Ontario Provincial Police have identified the man killed in a highway accident west of Thunder Bay Wednesday afternoon as Peter Wright of Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.
The 64-year-old was driving east on Highway 11-17 when his Dodge Dakota pickup truck crossed the centre line and hit a rock cut just west of the Highway 102 junction (an area commonly known as Sistonens Corners).
Firefighters removed Wright from his vehicle using the Jaws of Life.
He was then airlifted to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. He was alone in the vehicle.
The accident forced the closure of the Trans-Canada Highway for about two hours.
