Three teenage girls have pleaded guilty to reduced charges in the beating of Reena Virk. A trial for three other people began Monday in a Victoria, B.C. youth court.

The original charges of aggravated assault were reduced to assault causing bodily harm.

The fourteen year old girl was beaten, then beaten again and subsequently died by drowning.

Virk's battered body was found in the suburb of Saanich last November.

The case attracted worldwide attention and led to second-degree murder charges against two other teens.

The boy and the girl charged with murder, both aged 16, will stand trial at a later date.
