The National: 'Nice guy' gun owner feels victimized

An Ontario man says he's just a nice guy whose been inproperly victimized for his passion of owning and shooting guns. The National's Nick Purdon travelled to Alymer, Ont., to meet with John Evers, an outspoken advocate who feels gun culture as a whole has been misrepresented by criminal activity.

An Ontario man says he's just a nice guy whose been victimized for his passion of owning and shooting guns.

The National's Nick Purdon travelled to Alymer, Ont., to meet with John Evers, an outspoken advocate who feels gun culture as a whole is being misrepresented by criminal activity.

"We are the best Canadians hands down," Evers said. "When's the last time you had a background check? Mine was this morning."

The RCMP estimates there are around 8 million guns in Canada, placing the country 12th in the world.

"I'll go door-to-door across Canada if need be to say 'Hi I'm John. I'm a gun owner. I'm a nice guy. Give me a chance'," said Evers.
