Teen gets six months for Virk beating

A 15-year-old Victoria girl is going to jail for five months for her part in the brutal beating of Reena Virk last fall.

She's the first of eight people to be sentenced who took part in the two attacks on the 14-year-old student. Virk died as a result of the second beating.

The girl pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm in February.

Reena's mother, says the sentence is fair. She says she's pleased with the fact the girl appears to be trying to change her life.

Two other teens, are charged with second degree murder.
