A Toronto teacher is facing sex charges over allegations she had an affair with a 17-year-old male student.
The woman taught at the Mississauga Private School in west-end Toronto, where the teenager was a student.
The relationship allegedly happened during at least the last five months of the 2001-02 school year.
Police say it ended when the boy's parents found out and asked police to investigate.
The woman turned herself in to police Tuesday night and has been released on her own recognizance.
School officials have not commented, except to say the teacher no longer works at the school.
While it is legal to have sex once a person reaches age 14, the teacher has been charged because she was in a position of authority.
