Police are seeking two suspects after a woman was stabbed during a purse-snatching incident in Sudbury Saturday night, police say.

Police say a 32-year-old woman was walking with a friend on Louis Street, near St. Joseph Street, when a couple approached them at about 9:30 p.m.

It is alleged the approaching male pulled out a knife, while the woman grabbed the purse.

The woman holding the purse fought back, but was pushed down, kicked and stabbed.

Police say the suspects fled. They were chased by the victim's friend, who did not realize the victim had been stabbed.

The woman went to a local hospital.

The male suspect is believed to be 22 years old. Police say he is 5'9" to 6'2", has short, dark hair, a dark complexion and he had a dark bandana over his face.

The female suspect had shoulder-length hair and is in her 20s, police say.
