Greater Sudbury's volunteer firefighters have voted to join a union.

On Tuesday, 176 of the 328 part-time workers voted to become members of the Christian Labour Association of Canada.

The same union has organized volunteer firefighters in other Ontario cities such as Hamilton, Midland and Belleville.

The Sudbury vote still needs to be reviewed by the Ontario Labour Relations Board before the union is officially certified.
