Sudbury nursing home resident dies following disagreement
Police rule incident as unintentional, accidental
A Sudbury nursing home resident died following a minor disagreement in the dining hall Friday.
The elderly resident at Hoivakoti Nursing Home — part of Finlandia Village, hit their head on the wall after an argument with another resident, according to the home.
The resident was taken to hospital and died Monday.
Police determined that the fall was an accident.
Finlandia Village CEO David Munch said this is the first time something like this has ever happened at the home.
“Given the unpredictable nature of the event, management has determined staff members did everything possible to avoid harm coming to either resident,” a statement from Finlandia said.
“All of the staff at Finlandia Village would like to express our deepest sympathy to family and friends.”
