  • HWY 69: Ontario Provincial Police says both lanes of Highway 69 are now open to traffic near Highway 64 in the Alban area. Police say two tractor trailers collided around 5 a.m. One of the trucks caught on fire, but the driver was able to escape. The driver of the other truck was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The highway will remain at one lane until all debris is cleared.
  • HWY 17: Ontario Provincial Police say one lane on Highway 17 is closed 20 km south of White River for a culvert repair. 
  • SUDBURY: Canadian Pacific Railway will be completing train track updates at the Beatty Street crossing which will reduce traffic to a single lane between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. today.

COURT: A Sudbury second degree murder trial continues. A Sudbury teen testifying at the trial described the accused, Blake Lapierre, as intimidating. But he could not see the accused in the dark bush when the victim was found. The trial continues today. Tune into @CBCnewsSudbury for the latest.

HEALTH: The number of young people in Canada who will have a stroke is expected to double in the next 15 years, according to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Sudbury resident Anne Smith knows the situation all too well — her five year old daughter and father both suffered strokes. Hear the Smith family's story at 8:15 a.m. on @MorningNorth.

MINE SAFETY: The first female captain in a provincial mine rescue competition has roots in Sudbury. Lynne Bouchard worked as an intern at Vale and went to College Boreal. She’ll lead a team at the Dome Mine in Timmins.

TODAY: A mix of sun and cloud across Northeastern Ontario, with temperatures in the 20s. Attawapiskat will be the coolest at 20 C, Sudbury and Elliot Lake will be the warmest at 26 C. There is the chance of an afternoon thunderstorm for Kapuskasing and Hearst.

TONIGHT: Lows will range from 12 C down to 8 C.

TOMORROW: Mainly sunny skies with increasing cloud in the afternoon, with the chance of a shower. Highs from 23 C to 27. Along James Bay tomorrow, highs from 18 C to 20 C.
