Elliot Lake mall owner ordered to stabilize building
Informal public meeting with inquiry commissioner set for Aug. 15

The owners of stores located inthe Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake, Ont. are waiting to find out the future of the mall so they can settle their insurance claims. The mall's owner has been ordered by the Ministry of Labour to stabilize the building. (THE CANADIAN PRESS/Nathan Denette)
The Ministry of Labour has completed the of collection evidence at the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake and has ordered the owner to come up with a plan to stabilize the mall.
No one can to enter the site until the plan is in place and approved by the ministry.
A few days ago, the provincial police completed their on-site investigation.
The control of the site is now back in the hands of the owner, Eastwood Mall Incorporated and its insurance company, Zurich Insurance Group Inc.
The mall’s roof partially collapsed on June 23, killing two people and injuring several others.
Those with specific questions regarding the property have been asked to contact Eastwood's legal representatives, Brown and Fabris Law Office in Elliot Lake at (705) 848-0808.
