A Timmins man has turned himself in to police after they asked the public to help identify the driver of a car that was driving erratically on Gillies Street in Timmins, Ont. The stunt was recorded and uploaded to YouTube.
A Timmins, Ont. man turned himself in to police Tuesday night after they requested the public's assistance to locate the driver of an erratically driven vehicle.
The wild driving was captured on video and posted to YouTube, an online video sharing site.
The video, which caught the attention of police, showed a vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed on Gillies Street, before spinning out onto Poplar Avenue and hitting a parked van. Police were not impressed.
"We're not a race track. We're not a stunt driving track,” said Timmins Police Constable Paul Colbey.
“In this particular video … it didn't look like anybody was coming out, so he probably thought it was safe. However, once that vehicle lost control, anybody could have come out. That van could have been backing out of the driveway, a kid could have been running out, and he was completely out of control."
Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident.
They added they encourage the public to report to police any videos, photographs or other evidence found in social media that may be of criminal nature.
