Sudbury police are investigating after a man walking on Regent Street near Struthers Street on Monday was hit by a tire that came detached from a passing vehicle.

Police said the 53-year-old was hit by the tire about 3:30 p.m.

He was taken to hospital for emergency surgery for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the motor vehicle was identified and spoken to by police.
