An order has been issued to tear down the rest of the Algo Centre Mall.

Two people were killed when part of the mall roof collapsed this summer.

The site has been fenced off since the disaster, while numerous investigations were carried out.

A lawyer for the mall owners says the City of Elliot Lake has now issued a demolition order for what's left of the structure.

"The demolition order applies to the entire structure," said Michael Title, general counsel for Eastwood Mall Inc.

"And apparently, the city of Elliot Lake has made a finding that the entire structure is not safe and cannot be maintained."

Title said the owners of the mall will comply with the demolition order that stipulates the demolition must begin by the end of December.
