A protest that was blocking the winter road to the Victor diamond mine near Attawapiskat has ended.
A group of about eight people —all Attawapiskat band members— started blocking transport trucks heading to the mine on Monday night.
But following a community meeting Wednesday night to discuss the relationship with De Beers, the protestors have agreed to leave the road.
Their concerns largely related to firing policies at the mine.
The co-ordinator for the impact benefit agreement between the community and De Beers said the protestors were satisfied with a committment to further discussions on the issues.
