Ombudsman has power to investigate at hospital
Ontario's Ombudsman can now look into complaints at the hospital in Iroquois Falls.
Anson General has been under scrutiny this year after allegations of fraud by CEO Bruce Peterkin and questions about the board's ability to govern competently.
The province has appointed an interim supervisor to oversee operations, Hal Fjeldsted, who reports directly to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.
Normally Ombudsman Andre Marin does not have jurisdiction over hospitals in Ontario, but that changes when the government takes direct control of the hospital.
Marin does have jurisdiction over the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
