Ian Hammond charged with murder after fight in Blind River, Ont.

An altercation between two men has left a man dead in Blind River, Ont., police say.

The Ontario Provincial Police were called to the scene of a disturbance on a residential street in Blind River on Saturday night.

One of the males involved in the altercation was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other male was arrested at the scene.

Ian Hammond, 18, of Blind River, now faces a charge of first-degree murder.

The accused is due to appear in court in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., on Thursday.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released.

Police are still investigating.
