Health Sciences North CEO Denis Roy says he wants the panel to produce suggestions for change, not just complaints

Sudbury's hospital released more details about a patient advisory panel at a meeting Tuesday night.

Health Sciences North will form a panel consisting of about 16 patients, several hospital staff and CEO Denis Roy.

Roy said he wants patients who were recently in hospital — or their relatives — to sit on the panel.

He said the panel will not simply be a chance for patients to complain.

"A complaint is a complaint," Roy said. "I want someone to tell me ... how would you solve it if you were in my place?"

Roy said the Sudbury hospital has already started to receive calls from interested patients who heard about the panel in the media.

He said patients interested should contact the CEO's office or the communications department at the hospital. Roy said the panel could start meeting as early as September.
