An Oshawa, Ont., man faces impaired- and dangerous- driving charges after his car allegedly crossed the centre line of a northern highway and was struck by a tractor trailer, the Ontario Provincial Police say.

An OPP news release says that the collision happened shortly after 10 a.m. on Saturday, when a westbound car crossed into the path of an eastbound truck on Highway 17, west of Massey, Ont.

Police say that the male driver and his three female passengers were taken to hospital as a result of the crash. The truck driver was not hurt.

The 38-year-old man behind the wheel of the car now faces several charges including impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing bodily harm. The accused is due to appear in a court in Espanola, Ont., in August.
