Elliot Lake mall owner ordered to stabilize building

The Ministry of Labour has completed the of collection evidence at the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake and has ordered the owner to come up with a plan to stabilize the mall.

The Ministry of Labour has completed the of collection evidence at the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake and has ordered the owner to come up with a plan to stabilize the mall.

Initial meeting with justice set

The Hon. Paul R. Bélanger, commissioner of the Elliot Lake Inquiry, has announced that he will hold an informal initial meeting with residents of Elliot Lake at the Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre in Elliot Lake on Aug. 15, starting at 9:30 a.m.

 

No one can to enter the site until the plan is in place and approved by the ministry.

A few days ago, the provincial police completed their on-site investigation.

The control of the site is now back in the hands of the owner, Eastwood Mall Incorporated and its insurance company, Zurich Insurance Group Inc.

The mall’s roof partially collapsed on June 23, killing two people and injuring several others.
