Chief electoral officer reworks Sudbury store hours question
A referendum question on store hours in Sudbury has received some clarity.
Ontario's Chief Electoral Officer has decided the wording will be changed after a request to change the wording was put forward by the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber president Debbi Nicholson said the previous wording of the question — which will be posed during the 2014 municipal election — lacked clarity and was confusing.
She noted, "in the final question about the opening hours, the wording has changed so that it reads 'Are you in favour of allowing retail business establishments to choose the hours when they are open?’"
Nicholson said the chamber has been advocating for quite some time to have store hours deregulated in Sudbury.
