As Loblaw continues its process to purchase Shoppers Drug Mart Corp., the Competition Bureau says it must sell certain locations where it will own too many stores in one area.

One of those stores set to be sold is the Shoppers Drug Mart in Chelmsford in Greater Sudbury.

Shoppers Drug Mart spokesperson Tammy Smitham said arrangements are being made as to what will happen with customers’ files at the pharmacy under a new owner.

"So their file would be transferred to the new owner of the location,” she said.

“Throughout the process they can expect to get the same level of quality and service that they've expected through the pharmacy there. They're not required to transfer their prescriptions but, if they wish to do so, they can also contact their pharmacist directly and arrange for that."

Loblaw will sell a total of 27 stores across Canada, and the process will take several months Smitham said.
