Sault Ste. Marie OPP are advising people in the Laird Township area to be cautious as police continue the search for two men they say are armed and dangerous.
"[People should] remain inside their residence with their doors locked, and not open doors to anyone at this time," police said in a news release Tuesday morning.
Police said they were particularly concerned about the area around Bar River Road, which is about 40 kilometres southeast of Sault Ste Marie.
The OPP issued the warning after a home invasion in Sault Ste. Marie Monday evening, and an accident later involving a vehicle stolen at the time of the invasion.
Police said the men then fled on foot.
No other details were released, but police said they are continuing to search for the men, and are following up tips from the public.
Residents in the area are advised to exercise caution and call 911 if they have any information about these two suspects, and they are told not to approach the men.
Members of the Sault Ste. Marie OPP Detachment, OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit are on the scene.
