A man and a woman on a motorcycle died in a head-on crash on Highway 17 this weekend.
The Ontario Provincial Police say that the collision happened in the Municipality of Markstay-Warren, about 50 kilometres east of Sudbury.
It occurred between Sutcliffe Road and the Veuve River Bridge. Police were called to the scene at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Police say an eastbound car moved across the centre lane, sideswiped an oncoming SUV and then struck a motorcycle head on.
The two people on board the motorcycle died at the scene. On Sunday, police identified the victims as Alain Lacoursiere, 48, and Kerrie Leblanc, 48, both of Val Caron.
A 58-year-old North Bay man was driving the car. He was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The driver and passenger inside the SUV — a 55-year-old Sudbury woman and a 57-year-old Callander woman — were uninjured.
The collision remains under investigation. Police say charges are pending.
