A by the numbers of the G8 and G20 summits in Huntsville, Ont., and Toronto, from security to summit declarations to soccer.

Security:

• 900 - number of people arrested over the weekend. By comparison, officers in London made 111 arrests at the G20 summit in April 2009. At the 1999 Seattle World Trade Organization sessions, 600 arrests were made.
• 400 - estimated number of people engaged in a "criminal conspiracy to attack the city," according to Toronto police Chief Bill Blair. "I'm quite confident that close to 400 of the people that were involved in those criminal acts in our city will be held accountable and we're continuing in that investigation," he told CBC's Metro Morning.
• Four - number of police cars set on fire during Saturday riots.
• Three metres - height of the steel security fence.
• 19,000 - Number of officers called on to provide security for the G8 and G20 summits in Huntsville and Toronto.
• 3 - Number of days VIA rail stopped running trains into Toronto's Union Station.
• $1 billion - estimated security costs for the summit.

Summit declarations:

• 57 - Number of points in the Toronto Summit Declaration.
• 43 - Number of points in the Muskoka Summit Delcaration.
• Half - amount the G20 leaders agreed to slash their deficits by within three years.
• 52 million - number of jobs that would be created if the G20 leaders engaged in ambitious reforms, according to IMF and World Bank reports.
• $5 billion - amount G8 members committed over the next five years to a global initiative on maternal and child health for developing countries. Other countries will pitch in more than $2.3 billion for a total of $7.3 billion.

Market reaction:

• The S&P/TSX Composite Index was 82.2 points lower in Toronto on Monday, trading at 11,625.6 at midday. New York stock markets fared better, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average 18.9 points higher, to 10,162.7. The tech-laden Nasdaq was at 2,228.96, up 4.47.

• 18 - Number of countries that attended the G8 meeting in Huntsville. G8 leaders were joined by leaders from Colombia, Haiti and Jamaica, Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa.

• Number of G20 member states playing in the FIFA world cup in South Africa: 12
