Resolution in ex-MP Jaffer's drug case: lawyer

Rahim Jaffer, shown in his campaign office during the 2008 federal election, is charged with impaired driving and possession of cocaine. (CBC)There has been a resolution in the case of Rahim Jaffer, the former Alberta Conservative MP charged with cocaine possession and drunk driving.
His lawyer, Howard Rubel, says that at Jaffer's last appearance the court was told the case would be put over to March 9 for a resolution.
Rubel would not say what type of resolution was reached.
Jaffer, who is married to Helena Guergis, the minister of state for the status of women, was arrested and charged in the village of Palgrave, Ont., east of Orangeville, in September.
Jaffer, 37, was MP for the riding of Edmonton-Strathcona from 1997 until he was defeated in the 2008 election.
During the campaign, Jaffer approved radio ads that supported drug-free schools and getting tough with drug dealers.
