Support for the Conservatives is holding steady, with more than 35 per cent of Canadians saying they would vote for the party if a federal election were held tomorrow, an EKOS poll suggests.

The poll, released exclusively to CBC News on Thursday, asked Canadians who they would vote for if an election were held tomorrow. A total of 35.9 per cent of the 3,386 respondents chose the Conservatives, while 26.7 per cent picked Liberals.

The numbers from this week's survey, conducted Dec. 9 to Dec. 15, were nearly identical to the EKOS poll done the week before. It put support for the Conservatives at 35.6 per cent and the Liberals at 26.5 per cent.

The latest poll suggests 17 per cent of Canadians would vote for the New Democrats, 11.2 per cent for the Green Party and 9.2 per cent for the Bloc Québécois.

The margin of error associated with the survey is plus or minus 1.7 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
