CBC News presents two days of coverage of Earth Hour 2009, a worldwide event inviting people to promote reduced energy consumption by turning off electrical lights for one hour.

Earth Hour itself is scheduled for Saturday night, March 28th.

Here is the tentative schedule of programming on CBC Newsworld.

Morning: Nil Köksal reports from the Earth Hour countdown clock on what the CBC's doing for Earth Hour. Nil will also read viewer emails, sent to earthhour@cbc.ca.

7:15 a.m. ET: Keith Steward, World Wildlife Fund expert of energy and climate issues.

8:38 a.m. ET: Chef Jamie Kennedy - Earth Hour Recipes and Tips for dining in the dark.

10:30 a.m. ET: WWF Head of Earth Hour campaign, to talk abouyt Earth Hour events around the world.

Afternoon:

12:30 p.m. ET: David Suzuki talks with CBC host Ian Hanomansing about tips to 'stay green' all year.

3:15 p.m. ET: Andy Ridley, the originator of Earth Hour, from Australia.

3:40 p.m. ET: President of the Victoria, B.C. Cycling Coalition plans to conduct a bike tour around Vancouver Island in the dark

Saturday on CBC Newsworld:

8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 PT and again at 8:00 p.m. PT/11:00 ET Join hosts Diana Swain in Toronto and Ian Hanomansing in Vancouver.
