The body of the 107th Canadian soldier to die in the military mission in Afghanistan returned home Saturday.

A military plane carrying the remains of Trooper Brian Good, who had been stationed at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa in Ontario, landed at CFB Trenton.

After the aircraft's arrival, Good's flag-draped casket was placed in a hearse for the highway trip to the Toronto coroner's office.

Good, 42, was killed Wednesday when a makeshift bomb exploded near his armoured vehicle, about 35 kilometres north of the city of Kandahar.

He was a member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons, serving with the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment, and lived in the Ottawa suburb of Nepean with his wife and two teenage daughters.

Good joined the Canadian Forces three years ago and was on his first tour of duty in Afghanistan.

About 2,000 of his comrades bid their final farewell in Kandahar on Thursday. Among them were the three soldiers wounded in the explosion that killed him. They're all reported to be in good condition.
