Six more items were added Wednesday evening to the long list of meat products recalled in the wake of a nationwide listeria outbreak.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Sobeys Inc. issued a warning that certain cooked ham and salami sandwiches sold in Sobeys, Foodland and IGA stores in Ontario may contain listeria.

The agency said a recall was being initiated because the sandwiches contain some of the ready-to-eat deli meat products recalled earlier by Maple Leaf Foods.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with eating the sandwiches, the agency said.

The recalled products are cooked ham and salami subs made with both whole wheat and white bread in packages weighing 900 grams, 450 grams and 225 grams.

All carry "packed on" dates up to and including Aug. 24, 2008.

So far, 15 deaths have been associated with the outbreak linked to the strain of listeria found in certain Maple Leaf Foods products. In five cases, listeria has been confirmed as causing or contributing to the death. The other 10 deaths are still under investigation.
